Fibre Tech

SURFACE PREPARATION

Ensure all substrates are thoroughly clean, sound, dry and free from any contaminants such as dirt, rust, salt deposits, algae and grease.

•       Brick walls, plaster and concrete: Prime the surface with a masonry primer and allow to dry.
•       *Fish ponds and water features: Prime surface with Duram Duraprime epoxy primer or other epoxy primer according to instructions. The Duraprime must be overcoated whilst still tacky, i.e. touch dry. This will ensure good intercoat adhesion between the Duraprime and the Duram Rainkote Fibre- Tech.
•       New galvanized iron roofs: Clean metal with Duram NS2 Galvanized Iron Cleaner, rinse well with water and allow to dry. Apply a coat of Duram NS6 Galvanized Iron Primer as per instructions. Allow approximately 4 hours to dry (depending upon weather conditions) before overcoating with Duram
Rainkote Fibre-Tech.
•       Previously painted surfaces: Sand lightly before applying Duram Rainkote Fibre-Tech.
•       New cement and fibre cement roof tiles: Prime surface with a masonry primer and allow to dry for 8 - 12 hours before applying Duram Rainkote Fibre-Tech.

 

APPLICATION

•       Stir Duram Rainkote Fibre-Tech well.
•       Apply a generous, thick first coat using a brush.
•       Allow to dry for approximately 4 hours before applying next coat.
•       Apply each successive coat at rights angles to the previous coat to ensure a consistent film thickness.
•       To ensure water resistance, a minimum consistent film thickness of 2 mm is required which must be built up with at least two coats.
•       Rainkote Fibre-Tech can be over coated with a good quality acrylic exterior paint.
•       For ponding* applications (once primed with Duraprime), apply at least 4 coats of Rainkote Fibre-Tech to get a minimum film thickness of 3 mm and allow 7 dry days curing time. Rinse thoroughly with clean water several times before filling and introducing fish.

 

CLEANING

Hands and equipment are easily cleaned in water while wet. Collect spills with suitable absorbent material.

 

IMPORTANT

•       When Duram Rainkote Fibre-Tech is used in long-term ponding* applications, Duram Duraprime epoxy primer or other epoxy primer must be used.
•       Rainkote Fibre-Tech must be used in conjunction with Duram Duramesh reinforcing membrane when used for covering previously repaired large cracks and gaps, or for lap joints and flashings where there may be substantial substrate movement.
•       Do not apply if rain is imminent.
•       Whilst Rainkote Fibre-Tech is designed for a long life, it is advisable to give a maintenance coat every 5 years.
•       Ambient and surface temperatures must be between 5ºC and 40ºC during application.
 

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

•       Skin contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water.
•       Eye Contact: Flush immediately with water for 10 - 15 minutes and contact a physician.
•       Respiratory problems: Remove affected person to fresh air immediately and contact a physician.
•       Not for internal consumption.
